about me:

I'm a behind the scenes kind of guy who is always on the hunt for the next lucrative opportunity.

I do all my own web design and development. I've been creating websites since the mid 1990s, it wasn't until the early 2000s that I started exploring the adventures of running my own web businesses. It started as a hobby, but turned into a foundation.

On occasion I'll work on projects for other people, my availability however is very limited.

Vibey / Co-owner / Released January 2012

Press Release

Vibey is looking to revolutionize the way companies market themselves within social media networks by changing how people share their passions. This site allows businesses to customize their Twitter and Facebook pages with company-specific images and branding tools. Instead of using the traditional social network site layouts, Vibey enables individuals to host photos, advertisements, and promotional materials conducive to their mission; they can apply these images to their social networking pages in two clicks. The broad range of usability allows those with less technological experience to augment their companies' social networks, a benefit previous editing websites have failed to provide.

The recently introduced Facebook timeline format has people asking how they can choose an image that best represents their interests and passions at a glance. Vibey is set to offer a single destination for customizing the online presence of businesses and individuals, with an extensive selection of easy-to-use facebook covers and twitter backgrounds.

Social networks are the top connecting force in today's modern world, with over 700 million Facebook users and 100 million active Twitter followers. Companies utilizing Vibey can place their brand in the center of this growing online community, and create unique buzz in a way that is quickly beginning to change marketing within social media.

Guildzilla / Owner / Released Late 2009

Guildzilla has been a really fun project, and my first to be hosted on a cloud setup! Guildzilla never blew up to be the site I was hoping for, but it has been a great project. I may explore this niche again in the near future (for other games).

Scotty.cc / Me / Released 2002

2002-2004 is when it all started! My site was just your typical freelance site, back when I was a young designer building my portfolio.

2004-2007 my site was a collection of personal photoshop tutorials, articles, and tips. In the early days I molded that idea into another website that isn't listed here (I'm sure some of you old timers will remember it).

2007-2010 my site was offline, I ended up switching hosts a few times and started shop up under a new name, Shermations LLC.

2010-2011 (shown above) my site turned into a mix between big-project freelance and personal website news. I eventually grew old of it, and that is how we ended up with this new version!

ModMyProfile / Offline

My fastest growing site, during its peak it would see about 120-130k unique visitors a day. 95% of the traffic was from content referrals, my first really viral creation. My featured widget, a 420x210 map of the world that would automatically add markers to it when people visited your profile was the source of all the activity. Over 5 million maps were created over its short 8 month lifetime.

Unfortunately this site reached its demise when Myspace decided to block outgoing links to it (when surfers clicked on a map it would lead to a bigger google maps version).

Regardless of its short life, I still learned a ton from this site... met a lot of cool people, and really learned about some of the potential behind running a popular website.

RealorFakeVideos / Offline

Sorry, best image I could find. (archive.org)

I've always been a big fan of the super natural and unexplained, this site was built around that interest. Unfortunately traffic was very minimal, except around Halloween when people would search for Ghost Videos on google.

This one was created before monetizing videos was easily available, there were not many networks offering integration, and the ones that were required huge amounts of traffic.

ModMyComments / Offline

I decided to launch ModMyComments when ModMyProfile started getting bloated with non-generator traffic and content. It was my effort to separate the content types to different servers.

FFXIGallery / Offline

Sorry, best image I could find. (archive.org)

FFXIGallery was my very first recurring service website. Generalized, it was just an image host with a specific topic, powered by its internal social community. This one really paved the way for all my other service oriented websites. This is also the one that started fine tuning my UI/UF abilities.

WarcraftGallery / Offline

Sorry, best image I could find. (archive.org)

I created with this one as a sister site to FFXIGallery. Unfortunately during that time Warcraft only saved screenshots as TGA files, which ended up being about 1.5mb a piece. This was a lot to upload back in the day, and most browsers wouldn't even display TGA graphics.
